HighLevel Conversational AI vs. CloseBot Quality

Quality is sometimes the last thing on people’s minds when comparing their options. We did a deep dive into pricing and features between HighLevel’s Conversational AI and CloseBot HERE. That blog showed how HighLevel’s AI Employee becomes extremely expensive with 4 or more sub-accounts and is far less powerful than CloseBot. This blog will focus on the quality of conversation that you can expect with CloseBot compared to HighLevel’s AI Employee.

Keep in Mind Things Change Fast

CloseBot has spent a considerable amount of time over the past 3 years working as fast as possible toward one thing… AI lead qualification and booking optimization. This allowed us to be the first to do many things previously thought impossible.

The only thing that’s changed lately is that CloseBot is moving faster than ever, widening this gap in capabilities. Aside from taking a look at side-by-side features and comparing conversation quality (as we will do below), you can see CloseBot’s lead in our stats as well.

CloseBot continues to innovate enough that many of our beloved features show up on HighLevel’s own feature request board. These are features we released years ago. The innovation coming from CloseBot driving industry change and we have many new features coming… some of these are public on our roadmap and some are private 🤫

Being a follower is dangerous in the software world. CloseBot is not a follower.

    The Experiment

We ran several fake conversations through the HighLevel chat widget. In half of the cases, we utilized HighLevel’s Conversational AI. In the other half, we used a CloseBot Agent. One example was picked at random from each, although all of the runthroughs were very similar to each other. We then ran the transcripts through ChatGPT for unbiased feedback as to which would likely perform better in real-life lead qualification scenarios.

    HighLevel’s Conversational AI Example

You’ll notice a few things about this interaction that are a bit off. First off, the conversation feels quite transactional, made no better by the fact that the AI doesn’t break up messages like a human would. The way the AI offers specific time slots is also less characteristic of a real human interaction and will lead to a decrease in booking success rates.

Also keep in mind that HighLevel booking to different calendars when there are multiple services (ex. Botox, derma fillers, laser hair removal, etc.) would be very difficult. This would require stages of handoff to different bots (one for each calendar) that isn’t necessary to do when building with CloseBot job flows.

Bot: Hey there! What’s on your mind today? Are you interested in any of our services like Botox and Dermal Fillers, Laser Hair Removal, Chemical Peels, or IV therapy?

    User: Botox

Bot: Great choice with Botox! Have you done this service before?

    User: Yes, I have

Bot: How was your last experience with Botox? We’re just trying to see if there were any side effects or anything else you’d like to share.

User: It was good. Nothing bad here

Bot: I’m glad to hear that your last experience with Botox was good! Now, would you like to book an appointment for your next session? Let me know, and I can check the available slots for you.

    User: Yes

Bot: Here are some available slots for Botox appointments:
    – July 30th, 2025, Wednesday at 9:00 AM
    – July 30th, 2025, Wednesday at 11:00 AM
    – July 30th, 2025, Wednesday at 11:30 AM
    – July 30th, 2025, Wednesday at 12:00 PM
Please let me know which slot works best for you, and I’ll book it right away!

    CloseBot Example

Notice the additional qualification questions after CloseBot determines this is a botox customer. This is easy to make consistent with CloseBot’s job flows. HighLevel requires you to put all of these service-specific details into one prompt area… this results in AI that forgets to ask questions or is easily distracted.

Also notice the wonderfully-placed broken up message and usage of a typo to improve the human-like experience. At the end, CloseBot presents times as a range so the end user knows they can choose from many different times that are available.

Bot: Hi there! What kind of treatment are you interested in today? Botox and fillers, laser hair removal, chemical peels, or IV therapy?

    User: Botox

Bot: Great choice! Have you had Botox before, or would this be your first time?

Bot: And were you hapoy with the results?

    Bot: *happy

User: I have and I loved it!

Bot: That’s wonderful to hear! How long did the effects last for you after your last treatment?

    User: 12 weeks-ish

Bot: Perfect, that’s right in the typical range. Did you notice any side effects at all, like drooping, asymmetry, or headaches after your last session?

    User: Nope

Bot: Wonderful! We can book a 30-minute consultation with a Facial Aesthetics Expert today.

Bot: Would 8:30 AM work for you, or is there another time you prefer between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM?

Don’t Take Our Word for It

We are undoubtedly biased, but ChatGPT is not. We ran both of these conversations through ChatGPT as a fresh conversation thread (no history tracking) and asked its opinion with the following prompt:

There are two bots both built to qualify med spa leads. Analyze both conversations and give me an analysis on which one you prefer and detailed analysis as to why.

Keep in mind we did not mention the company names to ChatGPT.

    • HighLevel = Bot #1
    • CloseBot = Bot #2

    🔍 Detailed Analysis

    Engagement & Emotional Intelligence

    • Bot 2 feels more conversational and emotionally attuned. It responds positively to user sentiment (“I loved it!”) and reinforces that response with validation (“That’s wonderful to hear!”).
    • Bot 1, while polite and functional, feels more transactional. The bot acknowledges the good experience, but it doesn’t express any genuine warmth or reinforcement beyond that.

    Flow & Question Strategy

    • Bot 2 uses a progressive discovery approach:
      • Asks about experience → satisfaction → duration → side effects.
      • This gradual sequence mimics a natural consultation and builds trust.
    • Bot 1 jumps from asking about experience straight to booking. It skips deeper discovery, which limits personalization and doesn’t surface potential disqualifiers.

    Typo Handling

    • Bot 2 includes a human-like typo correction (“hapoy” → “happy”), which adds realism and shows attention to detail.
    • This type of imperfection can make bots feel more approachable and reduce the “bot barrier.”

    Call to Action (CTA) Style

    • Bot 1 offers fixed time slots immediately.
    • Bot 2 proposes a general range (“between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM”) and starts with a specific suggestion (8:30 AM). This gives the user more flexibility while still guiding toward a decision.
    • Additionally, Bot 2 positions the appointment as a consultation with a Facial Aesthetics Expert, subtly increasing perceived value and professionalism.

    Qualification Depth

    • Bot 2 collects more data relevant to the lead’s profile (effectiveness duration, side effects, previous satisfaction). This could be fed into CRM segmentation or used to preemptively address concerns.
    • Bot 1 doesn’t gather enough qualifying or disqualifying info before the booking step

    🏆 Verdict:

    Bot 2 Wins

Bot 2 is more humanized, better at qualification, and more likely to convert high-intent leads while screening out low-quality ones. Its flow is also more adaptable for nuanced medical or cosmetic services, where trust and personalization matter.
